Beginner Basics


The obedience cues taught include the following: Teaching the value of food, Watch Me, Sit, Wait, Down/Settle, Leave It, Place, Recall (Come When Called), Steady Walking (walking without pulling on-leash), Proper On-leash Dog-to-Dog Greetings, Stay.
This class does not cater to the following behavioral tendencies: Excessive barking,  Severe fearful behavior, Leash-reactivity (lunging/barking/growling when on-leash), and Reactivity towards people/dogs. Beginner Basics Obedience Class


Class Requirements:
  • Puppies and Dogs ages 5 Months – Adults/Seniors
  • 6 ft standard leash (no retractable leashes)
  • Collar and/or Harness
  • Treats Mixed with Dry Kibble
  • Vaccinations: DHPP, Bordetella, and Rabies
The Basic Obedience class is strictly on-leash and caters to all basic cues/commands. This is an open enrollment class including 5 weeks, each week consisting of 2-3 cues. A syllabus will be provided including topics and class dates for a total of three, 5 week periods. This allows each student + dog to attend classes around their schedule and attend classes pertaining to obedience cues they prefer to learn, though we recommend finishing 5 classes within a 2 month period to retain the training offered.
